The Shell Technology & Enterprise Scheme
This scheme places second year undergraduates in small and medium sized companies to undertake technical or business projects. For my project I was placed in company called Monitor Coatings that specialises in coating aerospace, automotive and oil industry components with wear resistant coatings. My task at this company was to evaluate their production processes in order to determine how their operations could be much more profitable. By designing more specialised jigs and monitoring the time spent on each task I was able to suggest a more effective pricing system that could make the company's regular jobs twice as profitable.
